Shutterbug is a fun photography workshop designed for children and teens at the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. The objective of the workshop is to bring the joy of photography to the children at Canuck Place, and to provide a creative outlet for them in continuing to embrace life.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic photographers who are good at working with kids/teens to volunteer in this workshop. We need photographers to accompanied participant on a short photo challenge. This is an amazing opportunity to work with some very special kids and give back to the community.

Details of the workshop:
Workshop Scheduled: Feb 25th (Thursday) from 1pm to 4pm. At this point, there will be 5 teen participants at Canuck Place on Feb 25th.
Workshop Format:
- 45 min of informal “classroom” session covering basic principles in composition and lighting
- 45 min photo challenge
- Each child/teen participant will be accompanied by one volunteer photographer
- Each child/teen participant will choose 5 out of the 10 pre-designed challenge topics, and take photographs inside Canuck Place with the help of the photographer
- 45 min “de-brief” portion (all participants load images into projecting laptop)
- Group reviews and critiques each other’s images
- If time permits, we can do real-time photo-editing
- Child will have an opportunity to print the photographs (to be confirmed with Canuck Place)
Canuck Place Children’s Hospice provides specialized pediatric palliative care for children living with a life-threatening illness and support for their families throughout British Columbia.
